Swift Group Publication Garners Main Stream Media Attention

A recent publication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society from Prof. Jennifer Swift’s group has gained attention with more main stream science media outlets (Popular Science , Sci News , The Scientist , Earth.com ).  The research, spearheaded by Swift group alums Dr. Alyssa Thornton (Ph.D. ’24) and Amanda Rutledge (GU ’23), concerns identifying and analyzing crystalline solids excreted by reptiles.  This study has potential implications in treating or preventing uric acid build in humans that can lead to gout or kidney stones.  Read the full open access article here and the accompanying press release here.
