Congratulations to Laidlaw Scholarship winners

Daniels del Rosal and Dhruvi Parikah have been awarded the Laidlaw Scholarship to support their research in the Chemistry Department. The Laidlaw Foundation partners with world-leading universities to select outstanding undergraduates at each institution annually for the Laidlaw Undergraduate Leadership and Research Scholarship. The research supported focuses on breaking cycles of poverty, reducing inequality, improving sustainability and public health, and developing a new generation of leaders to tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time.

Daniela del Rosal, a sophomore majoring in Energy and Environment Concentration and Minor in Chemistry, STIA, SFS will be working on remote sensing measurements of NO2 and other atmospheric pollutants in select world cities and relations to air pollution policies.

Dhruvi Parikh, a sophomore majoring in Healthcare Management and Policy, School of Health will be working on Trifluoroacetic Acid and other PFAS in the Environment: Spatial Distribution, Exposure Risks, and Health Implications.

Both students will be mentored in their research by Dr. Song Gao.
