Graduate Student Organization

Mission Statement:

To enrich the experience of graduate students in the chemistry department, and students across the scientific disciplines by creating opportunities to develop professionally, socially, and academically. Also, to provide a means of communication between graduate students and faculty within the chemistry department.

The Graduate Student Organization of Chemistry (GSOC) works to create a sense of community among chemistry graduate students, as well as with students in other departments. Interdisciplinary relationships have been formed between students in the chemistry, computer science, physics, linguistics, and MPP programs through our monthly happy hour, First Friday. GSOC provides an outlet for students to address issues at Georgetown and also in the larger chemical community.  In this regard we teamed up with The American Chemical Society to create the nation’s first American Chemical Society Graduate Student Organization (ACS-GSO).
